Google Pixel has today announced a new partnership with Australian superstar race driver Oscar Piastri.

Oscar Piastri makes switch to Google Pixel in fun new campaign

January 19, 2026

"Switching to Google Pixel was an easy decision,” said Oscar, in typically brief fashion. "Am I a Formula 1 racing driver? Yep. Am I a professional actor with a full emotional range? Nope. But I’m excited on the inside to be on the winning team with Google Pixel."

The videos are directed by Isaac Lock, who has worked with global stars including Dua Lipa and Victoria Beckham – and will launch alongside one of Australia’s biggest sporting moments, the Australian Open.

In them, Oscar uses the powers of Google Pixel with Gemini AI to help with distinctly "Oscar" tasks including writing a victory speech that captures his brevity (“Thanks”) and editing photos to make him look “more excited.”

“Oscar embodies the 'never settle' mindset that drives Google Pixel - he is relentlessly chasing the best, just like we are,” said Suzana Ristevski, Google Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re thrilled to bring such iconic homegrown talent to the brand. This is a uniquely Australian campaign - it’s full of delight and showcases the very best of Google Pixel in a way that we know will really resonate with local fans.”

Throughout his career, Oscar has been known to make changes to get ahead. He's been on a relentless pursuit of the best since he was beating adults three times his age on the remote control car race track. The campaign hopes to tap into this and ask Australians if they can get more from their smartphones and make the switch to something better.
